However, it is necessary to know that there are a series of requirements necessary to access the services offered by an Early Intervention Center. These requirements are:

  • Have an age between 0 and 6 years or until the start of their schooling in the compulsory primary stage
  • Present temporary or permanent special needs caused by deficiencies or alterations in the development
  • Have the relevant assessment and accreditation issued by public health, educational or social services, authorized and recognized for this purpose, that determine the need to receive treatment at the Early Care Center
  • Not receiving the same type of treatment in another Public Center or Service

What role do parents have in Early Care?

In Early Care, the family is the main resource to respond to their own needs. The support to families that have among their members a son or daughter with special needs or who are going to afflict the birth of a child with some alteration in their development (and the changes that in their family system causes), is always done by giving all kinds of information, help or guidance.

If having any type of disability at any age is a drama, it will be much greater if they occur at the beginning of development, since at these ages the alterations in development have a great neurological, psychological and sensory complexity.

Early Care begins as soon as possible in the sense of avoiding secondary disabilities, and providing satisfactory changes in the habilitation processes at all levels (prevention).
