This cake today is delicious but if you want you can prepare another cake with other ingredients and then make the same special decoration, the detail will be just as nice. Also, it will not take more than a moment and you can do it with the help of the children who will be happy to do so .

Ingredients for a 22 cm diameter mold

  • 2 eggs L, 100 grams of sugar, 1 juice orange, 75 grams of butter, 150 grams of confectionery flour, 1 yogurt, 12 California nuts, half-envelope of chemical yeast, and glass sugar to decorate

How to make an orange and walnut cake

Beat the eggs with the sugar until they whiten. Add the flour, the yeast and the zest of the orange peel and mix well. You can help a kitchen robot if it is more comfortable for you.

We squeeze the orange and add the juice to the mixture . Once it is well mixed, add the yogurt and pass the dough to a bowl. Apparently the dough will be light but when we add the nuts and after baking, there will be a spongy sponge cake.

Cascade the California nuts and chop the nut into large pieces, incorporating it into the mixture. This mixing operation is best done manually with rods so that the nuts are not chopped too much and so we find some pieces in each portion of sponge cake.

We preheat the oven to 180º and pour the mixture into a mold previously rubbed with a piece of butter so that afterwards the cake takes off well. We bake for 35 minutes . Once the cake is cold, we proceed to unmold it and decorate it.

We cut the edges of a paper lace or look for a crochet lace or similar that has a pattern with openings. We place that cut in the center of our sponge cake and pour 2 tablespoons of sugar in a colander to sprinkle it with a few touches on the sponge cake.

We finish by removing the lace and seeing how the negative pattern has been in the center of the cake, taking it to our partner to bed, with an orange juice and a very warm coffee to start Valentine's Day with excitement and joy.
