Listening with the heart is the new Post-Traumatic Post-Traumatic Emotional Stress Support Network, a project that emerges with the objective of providing telephone support to those women who, after having given birth to their children, are in some way traumatized by the experience.

'Listening with the heart' was born as a version of a project that has been operating in the UK for a few years, the Birth Crisis telephone support network, created by anthropologist and birth rights activist Sheila Kitzinger.

Its creators see the need to care for women who, for one reason or another, did not live the delivery as they wanted and lived it as a bad experience. These women have in common that they encounter loneliness and incomprehension after childbirth .

For them, that these mothers are listened with their hearts in this delicate and difficult moment of their life is essential to form a healthy family and therefore a healthy society.

Behind 'Listening with the heart' are Isabel Vidal Font, pedagogue, lactation consultant and therapist specialized in the different stages of motherhood and support for families and Jesusa Ricoy Olariaga, doula, perinatal educator and writer on issues of maternity. The latter also collaborates in the telephone support line created by Sheila Kitzinger in the United Kingdom and in Eduard Punset's blog in the psychological support section.

You can contact the Emotional Support Network as of September 25, speaking by telephone with volunteers mostly mothers and professionals who give their time for free. The service will be offered to the entire area of the Iberian Peninsula, the Balearic and Canary Islands, and calls will be addressed in Spanish and Catalan.

Postpartum depression is one of the most common situations in women who need emotional support, which nevertheless appears in very different degrees and manifestations that need to be understood and treated. Post-traumatic stress disorder due to childbirth is another consequence that some women may suffer from a bad experience.

For all of them, Listening with the heart, the Post-Traumatic Post-Traumatic Emotional Stress Support Network that has just been born in Spain can be of great help, and we hope that this initiative will succeed and spread.
